Canon World

This world is much more modern compared to Thedas. Cars, running water, electricity, gas stations, airplanes, all this very much like our own world. Except for years started back the early 1990s every year a group of heroes protects the cities of that world. The villains range from evil empresses to scorpion monarchs to mutants and demons and even a dinosaur mutation. Various people belong to the infamous group known only as the Power Rangers: some joined willingly, some were convinced to join, and others joined because they were once sided with the villains but they all want to protect the world.

History

This particular section of the world features three unlikely ninja students who become the last hope against the evil space ninja Lothor and his alien army. One of which was Dustin.
  • Dustin's first noteworthy experience is that unlike traditional Power Rangers (for those familiar with the canon is that usually it's the Red Ranger) Dustin is the first to morph and also to show the others in turn how to do so as well in the first episode.
  • Also earlier in said episode he'd rather be a little late helping a elderly couple on the road then feeling guilting about leaving them.
  • The next noteworthy event happens in Looming Thunder when Dustin meets two young men who have similar interests as him in motorcross just slightly more advanced: Blake and Hunter Bradley.
  • Things come to head though when Shane accuses him of not taking his Ranger and ninja duties seriously as he starts to hang out with Blake and Hunter more.
  • Things get better with friends just as Blake and Hunter are revealed to be the mysterious Thunder Rangers and believe Sensei killed their parents when it was revealed Lothor did it.
  • After Hunter protects the others they leave but eventually rejoin Dustin and the other Rangers. After some difficult conversation with Dustin's boss Kelly, Dustin soothes things over.
  • Dustin plays a major part of the episode All about Beevil. The beginning has him trusting a shady guy who says he can fix up Dustin's bike. However... The guy is nowhere to be found and Dustin is in the dumps about that. His friends are chewing him about not to be so trusting of everyone etc. Dustin Runs into one of the minor villains Marah. One of Lothor's nieces who got chewed out for damaging the ship.
  • Dustin runs into her after she nearly gets run over at the racetrack, After some talking with Marah Dustin decides to trust her and she asks him to use this device to help her to weaken Beevil, Lothor's newest alien.
  • He gets caught unfortunately and still sticks to his guns that Marah can be trusted and that his greatest skill is his instinct.
  • He gets betrayed by Marah but this hasn't damped his spirits because that shady guy? He ends up returning said bike fixed and all, he just the wrong address. Like Dustin says 'sometimes you got to trust people'.
  • After some accidental Yellow Ranger exposure saving his boss' Kelly's store from hired thugs, Dustin found himself in both the limelight and at odds with best bud Shane. Almost ruining a skating opportunity for his friend just some he would be the goof anymore realizing what he almost did he offered his weapon the Lion Hammer to Shane in a battle while Shane gave his own weapon to Dustin for the fight for forgiving each over.
  • Another notable thing in the history is that it was Dustin to state 'You guys realize if we were never late for class that day we wouldn't even be Power Rangers.' towards the very last episode.
  • Dustin's personal arc ends when Dustin who was at the low end of a ninja class and becomes a Sensei.

Personality

To put Dustin's personality bluntly, he's a people person. Overly cheerful, he's as friendly as someone can be saving the world. He is the 'comic book geek' of the Wind Rangers, and was a fan of previous Rangers, who were considered urban legend, visible when they are first given morphers and he is the first to morph and (in turn) show Shane and Tori how to morph. He is somewhat naive and gullible as he has been used by one of Lothor's nieces Marah, but still retains his good natured outlook on life. Dustin has a bit of sympathy for Marah as they are both over looked by their colleagues and considered stupid by the others in their groups. Dustin actually will try to cheer up anyone down in the dumps, even if that person happens to be an enemy. He is very close to fellow Rangers Tori and Shane, having been childhood friends with both of them. Despite this, others tend to look down on him being a complete goofball and even a fool as stated by the Rangers' enemy Lothor. Dustin takes everything in stride however, and very few things bother him for very long. What he lacks in perspective or smarts, he makes up for it in heart. Dustin believes that most people are generally good and trustworthy, even if their previous actions might have you look otherwise he feels that there's good in almost everyone.

However if his trust is betrayed, Dustin has a tendency to second guess himself particularly if his friends tend to doubt him. He also is very close to his father Jake, claiming that he taught him everything he knows about racing and motorcross. He also doesn't see anything wrong with using his own powers with helping non-Ranger friends such as his boss Kelly when they are in trouble. He firmly believes that his greatest ninja skill is his instinct. His bad side tends to rub off on the fact that he can be too trusting, which can backfire on him. He also likely has a problem with people never taking him seriously, but at his heart he's a kind-hearted person who just tries to do the right thing.

Strengths & Weaknesses

Dustin has a few powers of note. He has been trained at the Wind Ninja Academy to have earth-based powers, primarily the ability to travel and attack underground as well as to shoot yellow energy from his hands. (which is concentrated Earth power, as far as I can tell) The latter ability doesn't appear to be too destructive as a fellow Ranger (or anyone with powers really) can easily counter it as it's not exactly subtle. However, to a non-powered person this attack can extremely painful, likely capable of broken bones at the very least.

Dustin, like all ninja academy students has a power called 'Ninja Streak' which allows him to move at blinding speeds albeit in the form of a yellow streak across the landscape. It is a form of travel not a combat power, and he is able to do said power in and out of Ranger form.

His primary ability is to transform into the Yellow Wind Ranger by saying 'Ninja Storm, Ranger form' and in that form he can trigger earthquakes with his Lion Hammer, split into two fighters, and even travel and attack underground. To activate his Ranger powers he raises his Wind Morpher to the sky, says the above words and is transformed. The device is mostly gold and black colored, with his yellow Power Disc which has the insignia of the lion. The suit can be removed by saying 'power down' which reverts him to civilian clothes, or 'ninja form' which reverts Dustin to his ninja clothes. He also has a hang glider in yellow that he can summon in his Ranger form.

He is also well adverse in the extreme sport motorcross, from being his own mechanic to noting rather famous people in the sport. He likely could fix and repair vehicles of similar make and build of ones he did in motorcross, not that it would be useful in this game. If you feel any of these abilities is too overpowered or all of them, feel free to remove them.

As said before he is too trusting and while he is a little naive at times he is not stupid. He does get frustrated at times at being played the fool. He isn't the craftiest or the smartest person around but he does know how to repair and use his own vehicles and weapons as both a Ranger and a ninja.

1x Wind Morpher

Feel free to have the morpher not work or to be sent back when Dustin arrives in Thedas.

Fit

Well first off, Dustin would want to help and protect as many people as he could. And if he ever hears of the Grey Wardens he may join up with them depending on how things go in-game. Darkspawn, demons? He's used to fighting unusual monsters on a weekly if not daily basis for about a year in his home world. So it is nothing new to him. He'd likely admire the warriors that weren't you know enemies of the Inquisition, not letting fear dictate the life you lead. Dustin has no real opinion about magic really though other than the fact that another Ranger team was magic based. He's very much a social warrior who cares for others that he works with.

SAMPLES

"Oh, man. This is definitely not good." A sandy-blond young man had stated, while trying to figure out what was happening. He wasn't having any luck however as he knew he was just in a strange area called Skyhold. Dustin fiddled with his ninja uniform until he gave up after a bit of frustration. Dustin groaned. "Dude... Where is my morpher? I had when I was awake! What if a monster back home has it there..."

He had tried earlier with his morpher, and later discovered it was gone. Dustin sighed as he began to prepare to leap across a nearby roof via his 'ninja streak' power. Only problem was that he couldn't do as he strained himself, he tripped over a stray small stone and got some dirt on his clothes as he fell backward. "Man, dude. This just isn't my day. First that we teamed up against that Emperor dude team up and now this? Not only have I not seen Tori or Shane, but I haven't seen anyone so far. It's like..."

He paused for a second as slowly got back up. "Like it's deserted or something. And why can't my powers work? Cam would know how to fix this or Tommy maybe. This is so not good. No ninja powers working, no Ranger powers working. And I can't get a hold of Shane and the others."

He had to have some hope, maybe he just got transported to some weird place by Mesogog. Dustin hoped wherever his friends where, they were safe. First things first: see if he was the only person or Ranger here, all else could wait. Once Dustin found some fellow Rangers, then maybe he could find some information about where he was and how he got here. So he took off walking in one direction hoping that he would find someone ton help him out. Sometimes, you just have to hope and trust in people. So he did, hoping he wasn't alone. They mentioned something about a Inquisition in this Skyhold place? Dude, he'd have ask about that.

Sample 2

[a training exercise]
As Dustin gave a serious thought on the situation he was in, he knew that if Sensei or his friends saw him now they would want him ready for anything. So he was able to get a sword from one of the Templars, as the defending dummy readied against his strikes. "Wow man. This is harder than it looks without powers..." After several hit or miss tries Dustin is finally able to down the training dummy.

Trying the arrow targets for the heck of it, he tossed a couple of his spare daggers to see if he could hit the center which didn't pan out exactly right. "Sorry!" Jumping over the target the retrieve the daggers, Dustin sighs but also gives a smile. "I might have some work to do but I think I'm the right track to help the people of this world. Sometimes you have to have faith."
